Sterling . Question about transfering a vehicle's title?? Help please?

Question about transfering a vehicle's title?? Help please? I bought a car a week ago and today I want to go and transfer the vehicle's title from the previous owner to me. I have all the paperwork needed to transfer it, but when I checked the state's website with the requirements for a title transfer, it said that I need to prove liability insurance; however I dont understand how, because I went to the insurance company and they wouldnt let me insure the car without having the title, but I need insurance to transfer the title.... So I'm kind of lost there. I do have another car on which I have insurance, so I was wondering if proving I have insurance on my other vehicle would work? Please no rude answers, thanks. car insurance.

Sterling . '98 automatic accord coupe having bad gear shifts?

'98 automatic accord coupe having bad gear shifts? This has been going on for a while now, but here goes. When I turn my car on and drive for the first few minutes, it drives normal just like any other car. A few minutes later, it has a delayed shift from 2nd to 3rd gear and it causes my car to jerk a little as it switches. This usually happens around 25-30 mph. If I go just a little faster as it's switching, sometimes it doesn't jerk. . After maybe a while of that though things get really bad. From 1st to 2nd gear, if I accelerate like usual, it won't shift gears into 2nd until about 3500 rpm (in normal conditions, it's around 2000 rpm) and causes my car to jerk almost like I was hit from behind! I have to gently accelerate (which the term does NOT exist on Dallas roads). Then it does the same from 2nd to 3rd, making my car rev up before switching, but this time it doesn't jerk, but has trouble staying on a gear until I'm going faster and stays on 3rd. There's not trouble from 3rd to 4th. Also, once it gets that bad, my car jerks a little once it comes to a complete stop. I've recently had my transmission fluid and oil changes done on February like scheduled. Given this information, is there a way to narrow down what could be the possibility with these really bad gear shifts? I really don't have the money to have my car checked this instant, so I'm out of luck for now driving in these conditions. car insurance.

Sterling . How to Check the Condition of a Car Engine

Checking the condition of your engine before problems get too bad can potentially save you thousands of dollars, not to mention a car breaking down when you least can afford it. A very simple but cursory inspection of certain aspects of the engine can put your mind at rest.
Difficulty:Moderately Easy
Instructions

Step by Step :
1
Pop the hood and do a visual inspection. Things to look for are any damaged vacuum hoses that may need to be replaced, loose connections at the sensors or solenoid, tears in the air cleaner duct work and poorly connected spark plug wires.
2
Check the idle figures. A well-conditioned engine should run anywhere between 750 to 850 rpm while idling when the engine has had time to warm up. Press the accelerator and make sure the rpm increases gradually as you slow push down further on the gas pedal.
3
Inspect the spark plugs. If all or most of the plugs have a black carbon coating, this is a sign of a bad oxygen sensor. If just one plug has a black coating that indicates a leaking fuel injector.
4
Check the batteries and solenoid switch for corrosion. Minor corrosion can probably be cleaned away with a wire brush and may not be cause for concern. If the corrosion is major, however, this can indicate a more serious problem with either the battery or solenoid and could keep the car from starting.
5
Start the engine and aim the timing light at the timing marks located on an opening in the transmission bell housing. There should be a fixed mark that aligns with the illuminated mark on the crankshaft pulley, damper or flywheel. Should the marks be out of alignment, an adjustment needs to be made on the distributor.

Sterling . How to Pull a Car Engine

Removing a car's engine is necessary to properly rebuild the engine, or to detail the engine's compartment. Removing a vehicle's engine can be an intimidating task. However, once the steps to engine removal are learned, removing an engine is a relatively straightforward task that can sometimes be accomplished in less than 1 hour.
Difficulty:Moderately Challenging
Instructions Things You'll Need
Flathead screwdriver
Wrench
Engine hoist

Step by Step :
1
Remove the radiator's hoses, the radiator, and the engine's fan. The radiator's hoses attach to the radiator with hose clamps. Loosen the screws on each hose camp with a flathead screwdriver, then pull the hoses away from the radiator to remove them. Drain the radiator by turning the drain cock on the bottom of the radiator in a counterclockwise direction with a wrench, then remove the radiator's mounting bolts with a wrench. The mounting bolts are located at each corner of the radiator. Once the bolts are removed, lift the radiator up and away from the engine compartment. Remove each of the bolts located through the center of the engine's fan, then pull the fan away from the engine to remove it.
2
Disconnect the fuel line and the throttle linkage from the carburetor. The fuel line attaches to the carburetor with a single hose clamp. Loosen the screw on the end of the hose clamp with a screwdriver, then pull the hose away from the carburetor. Remove the throttle linkage from the driver's side of the carburetor by removing either the linkage's screw with a screwdriver, or by pulling the clip that secures the linkage to the carburetor with pliers.
3
Disconnect the two battery cables by first loosening the nut which appears on the end of each cable with a wrench, then by pulling the cables away from the battery. The negative battery cable, identified by the "---" symbol next to its terminal, should be removed first.
4
Remove the starter and disconnect the transmission from the engine. The starter is located between the engine and the transmission underneath the vehicle, typically on the passenger's side of the vehicle. Remove the two bolts that secure the starter in place with a wrench, then pull the starter away from the engine. Remove each bolt that holds the transmission to the engine with a wrench. If the vehicle is equipped with an automatic transmission, the torque converter's four bolts will have to be disconnected from the engine's flywheel. These bolts are accessed from underneath the engine, where the engine meets the transmission. It will be necessary to periodically turn the crankshaft's bolt with a wrench to access each of the four bolts.
5
Remove any accessory hoses, such as the hoses for an air conditioner or power steering pump. These hoses are typically held in place with either a nut at the end of each hose, or with a hose clamp. Loosen the nut with a wrench, or loosen the hose clamp with a screwdriver, then pull the hose away from the component to remove it.
6
Disconnect the motor mounts. There is one motor mount located on each side of the engine. A single bolt runs through a bracket connected to the vehicle's frame and a second bracket attached to the side of the engine. Remove this bolt from the brackets located on both sides of the engine.
7
Position an engine hoist over the engine and attach both of the hoist's chains to engine. The chains are typically attached to the bolts which appear on the ends of the engine's heads. One chain should be attached the rear of one side of the engine, while the other chain should be attached to the front of the opposite side of the engine. Lift the engine with the engine hoist, while simultaneously pulling the hoist away from the engine to disconnect the engine from the transmission. Once the engine has been disconnected from the transmission, use the hoist to lift the engine up and out of the engine compartment to complete the removal process.

tune-up. See your owner's manual for recommended tune-up intervals, but be aware that even if it says that the vehicle doesn't require scheduled tune-ups very often, it's in your best interest to check periodically that it's working at peak efficiency. If you do a lot of stop-and-go driving or pull heavy loads (like a camper or boat), your ignition system may need to be tuned more often, no matter what type of system it is. Here are some of the symptoms that tell you that your ignition system probably needs to be tuned or adjusted: . Chapter 12: Keeping Your Electrical System in Tune V* The car stalls a lot. The spark plugs may be fouled or worn, the gap may need adjusting, or the idle speed or an electronic sensor may need to be adjusted. Stalling can also be caused by problems with the fuel system (see Chapter 13). If you're having trouble pinpointing the cause, you can help your automotive technician diagnose the problem if you're aware of whether the engine stalls when it's hot, cold, or when the air conditioner is on. e* The car gets harder to start. The problem can be in the starting system or can be due to an electronic component, such as the starting sensor or the ignition system's computer. It could also lie in the fuel system, so check that out, too. What ^ou Need to Do the Work in This Chapter When it's time to change your spark plugs and/or tune your car, have the items you need for each task assembled and handy before you begin. You probably already have some of these items. If you're buying tools, Chapter 2 describes them and provides tips on buying good ones. Everything should be easy to find at reputable hardware and auto supply stores. Before you go shopping, see the sections of this chapter called "Buying the right parts for your car" and "Understanding tune-up specifications." They can help you avoid what is probably the most annoying part of any automotive job: disabling your car to work on it only to find that you have to drive back to the store to exchange the stuff they sold you in error! It's a good idea to stick with parts from the same manufacturer as those that your vehicle originally came with. That brand may be listed in a service manual for your vehicle. If you don't have a service manual, tell the sales clerk at the auto parts store that you want OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) parts. 476 Car Insurance ford escape 2011 limitedhybridsportutility4d 54714

When you go to buy parts, keep in mind that most professional mechanics get discounts at auto parts stores. See if you can get a discount by telling them that you're installing the parts yourself. It can't hurt to try. Even if you don't get a price break, you're still ahead of the game because you don't have to pay labor charges. If you have an electronic or distributorless ignition system, almost the only work you'll need to do is to check and reinstall your spark plugs. Ignore the items on the following list that have just this symbol 0 in the margin next to them. They apply only to tuning up non-electronic ignition systems. 206 **art'": ^eeP'n9 ^our Car •" Good Condition, System by System Here's a list of the things you may need: * An old blanket or mattress pad or a padded car protector to place over the fender where you'll be working to protect it from scratches: Commercial car protectors often come with handy pockets that hold tools and little parts while you work. You can make such a pocket yourself by pinning up the bottom edge of your folded blanket or pad — or you can forget about it completely if you don't mind rummaging in your tool kit a lot. * Work clothes: Wear something that you won't mind getting stained with grease, oil, and other stuff. *

Hand cleaner: Chapter 2 has suggestions for the best type to buy. * A work light (or flashlight, at least). * A new set of spark plugs: Buy one for each cylinder in your engine. Never change just a few plugs; it's all or nothing for even engine performance. If you're feeling especially wealthy, buy an extra plug in case you get home and find that one of them is defective, or in case you accidentally ruin one by dropping and cracking it or by cross-threading it when you install it. If you don't use it, keep it in your trunk compartment tool kit for emergencies. Spark plugs don't get stale. And don't be shocked if you're told that you need eight spark plugs for your 4-cylinder engine. Some engines require two spark plugs per cylinder. •* Anti-seize compound and silicone lubricant: The threads of the spark plugs should be lightly coated with anti-seize lubricant before you install them in the engine. Also apply silicone lubricant to the spark plug wire boots to prevent them from sticking to the porcelain part of the spark plug.
